How We Say It is as Important as What We Say

Though we tend to believe that our youngsters aren’t attentive to us when we’re talking to them, they actually are listening and trying to decode the messages in our conversation. Especially messages conveyed by our body language and our tone. As you work to establish harmonious connections with the youth in your life, be mindful of your non-verbal communication. In other words, pause to check your emotions and posture to make sure they are aligned with the present conversation. Sounds simple, but we tend to overlook this very important “rule of engagement and often times, our intended message gets lost.” Being aware of how we say things; in addition to what we’re saying to our youngsters will help to minimize the occurrence  of misunderstandings and maximize the message.
